LORD MAHAVEER
Lord Mahavir was born on Chaitra Shukla 13, about 2620 years ago, to the republican hero King Siddhartha and his wife Trishala of Kshatriya Kundgram (Vaso Kund) of the then Vaishali state. Over time, the followers of 'Lord Mahavir', who gave the mantra of 'non-violence and truth' and 'live and let live' for the welfare of living beings, installed his idols and built temples. In the same series, there is the world famous 'Digambara Jain Atishay Kshetra Shri Mahavirji' located in village Naurangabad-Chodangaon of Hindaun subdivision of Karauli district in the eastern region of Rajasthan in North India.

ORIGIN OF STATUE
Here, the 1008th Param Digambara Mugavarni Satishaya Padmasana statue of Lord Mahavir Swami, which appeared from the underground, is present, which is more than 1000 years old. There is a popular rumor of a miraculous idol emerging from underground in this area.

About 450 years ago, the milk of a tanner's cow in Chaudangaon, Naurangabad, used to flow automatically every day on a mound near the banks of river Gambhir. When the cow started returning to the tanner's house without milk for several days, the tanner was surrounded by many fears and options. One night the leather-working cowherd had a dream that at the place where the cows go to graze, there was a very miraculous statue buried in the ground. This cow offers her milk to him only. The next day the tanner saw this scene firsthand. Seeing the sight he felt like digging the mound. On digging the mound, the Param Digambar Jain statue of Lord Mahavir was found in it. While chanting the praises of Lord Mahavir, Pratimaji was brought from the mound and seated on a stone block under a roof. This news spread rapidly in the surrounding areas. On receiving this information, the Saravagis of Hindaun city also came here and wanted to take Pratimaji to Hindaun. But he did not get success. Feeling helpless, they decided to make Pratimaji sit there.

After knowing the news of Pratimaji's death, a large number of Jains and Ajains started coming from far and wide to have darshan. The statue became famous in every corner of the country by the name of 'Tile wale Baba'. Shri Amarchand ji Bilala, resident of village Baswa, Fozdar Jaipur State, impressed by the beauty of Pratimaji, built a huge and grand temple with three peaks at the same place. Over time, various charitable personalities contributed to the development of the temple and the area. This white-glazed temple is adorned with golden vases on its three red peaks and has been attracting visitors from far away. After seeing Baba, the traveler experiences mental satisfaction and peace. This special area is not only the center of unique faith/devotion of Digambara Jains, people of all religions and classes also visit here and consider their lives blessed.

भगवान महावीर
तत्कालीन वैषाली राज्य के क्षत्रिय कुंडग्राम (वासो कुंड) के गणतांत्रिक नायक राजा सिद्धार्थ और उनकी पत्नी त्रिषला के लगभग 2620 वर्ष पूर्व चैत्र शुक्ला 13 को भगवान महावीर का जन्म हुआ । जीव कल्याण के लिए ‘अहिंसा और सत्य’ तथा ‘जीओ और जीने दो’ का मंत्र देने वाले ‘भगवान महावीर’ के अनुयाइयों ने कालान्तर में उनकी मूर्तियॉ स्थापित कर मंदिरों का निर्माण करवाया । उसी श्रंखला में उत्तर भारत में राजस्थान के पूर्वी अंचल में करौली जिले के हिण्डौन उपखण्ड के ग्राम नौरंगाबाद-चॉदनगॉव में स्थित विष्व प्रसिद्ध ‘दिगम्बर जैन अतिषय क्षेत्र श्री महावीरजी’ है।

प्रतिमा का उद्भव
यहॉ पर भूगर्भ से प्रकट 1008 भगवान महावीर स्वामी की परम् दिगम्बर मूॅगावर्णी सातिषय पद्मासन प्रतिमा विराजित है, जो कि 1000 वर्ष से अधिक प्राचीन है । इस क्षेत्र में भूगर्भ से प्रगटित प्रतिमाजी की चमत्कारिक जनश्रुति है ।

लगभग 450 वर्ष पूर्व नौरंगाबाद चॉदनगॉव में एक चर्मकार की गाय का दूध प्रतिदिन गंभीर नदी के तट के पास एक टीले पर स्वतः ही झर जाया करता था । जब कई दिनों तक गाय चर्मकार के घर पर बिना दूध के लौटने लगी तो उस चर्मकार को अनेक आषंकाओं एवं विकल्पों ने आ घेरा । एक रात उस चर्मकार ग्वाले को स्वप्न आया कि जिस टीले पर गाय चरने जाती है उस स्थान पर अत्यन्त चमत्कारी प्रतिमा भूमि में दबी हुई है । यह गाय उन्हें ही अपना दूध अर्पित करती है। दूसरे दिन चर्मकार ने इस दृष्य को प्रत्यक्ष देखा । दृष्य देखकर उसे टीले को खोदने की इच्छा हुई । टीले को खोदने पर उसमें भगवान महावीर की परम दिगम्बर जैन प्रतिमा निकली। भगवान महावीर की जय जयकार करते हुए प्रतिमाजी को टीले से लाकर एक छप्पर के नीचे पाषाण खण्ड पर विराजमान किया गया । आसपास के क्षेत्रों में यह खबर द्रुत गति से फैल गई । हिण्डौन नगर के सरावगियों को भी यह सूचना मिलने पर वे भी यहॉ आये और प्रतिमाजी को हिण्डौन ले जाना चाहा । परन्तु उन्हें सफलता नहीं मिली । लाचार होकर उन लोगों ने प्रतिमाजी को वहीं विराजमान करने का निष्चय किया । प्रतिमाजी के अतिषय के समाचार जानकर भारी संख्या में जैन-अजैन दूर-दूर से दर्षनार्थ आने लगे । प्रतिमा ‘टीले वाले बाबा’ के नाम से देष के कोने-कोने में प्रख्यात हो गई ।

ग्राम बसवा निवासी श्री अमरचन्द जी बिलाला, फोजदार जयपुर राज्य ने प्रतिमाजी के अतिषय से प्रभावित होकर वहीं पर एक तीन षिखर का विषाल व भव्य मंदिर का निर्माण करवाया । कालान्तर में विभिन्न दानी महानुभावों ने मंदिर व क्षेत्र के विकास में योगदान किया ।

शुभ्र धवल आभामय यह मंदिर अपने तीन लाल शिखरों पर स्वर्ण कलशों से शोभायमान है तथा आगन्तुकों को दूर से ही आकर्षित करता आ रहा है । बाबा के दर्शन के पश्चात यात्री मानसिक संतोष और शांति का अनुभव करता है । यह अतिषय क्षेत्र दिगम्बर जेनियों की अपूर्व आस्था/श्रद्धा का केन्द्र तो है ही, यहॉ सभी धर्मो व वर्गो के लोग भी दर्षन कर अपना जीवन धन्य मानते हैं ।
